Aldo Juan Mandujano and Elizabeth Saavedra Death Obituary Greenfield California: Couple Died in Suspected Gang-Related Shooting at Fastrip Gas Station
A late-night shooting at a gas station in Greenfield, California, has left two people dead in what authorities believe was a targeted, gang-related ambush, sending shockwaves through communities across southern Monterey County.
The victims have been identified as Aldo Juan Mandujano, 26, of King City, and Elizabeth Saavedra, 32, of Soledad. Both were fatally shot on Monday night, June 22, at the Fastrip gas station located along El Camino Real.
According to Greenfield police, officers responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 10:50 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the victims inside a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite emergency efforts, both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say multiple suspects opened fire on the vehicle, discharging dozens of rounds before fleeing in a getaway car. Surveillance footage from the gas station reportedly captured the suspects’ vehicle, and detectives are reviewing video evidence from the scene as well as nearby camera systems.
Police Chief Guillermo Mixer stated that early findings suggest the shooting was a deliberate attack, possibly tied to ongoing gang-related activity in South Monterey County. Authorities are also examining whether the incident may be connected to a recent killing in nearby Soledad. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
As news of the tragedy spread, tributes began pouring in for both victims. Elizabeth Saavedra, known in her community as “Liz Lady Barber,” is being remembered as a devoted mother, friend, and mentor. She leaves behind four-year-old twin sons, Duke and Enzo, for whom a fundraiser has been established to assist with funeral expenses and future support.
Aldo Juan Mandujano is also being remembered by loved ones as a cherished son and friend. A separate fundraiser has been organized to help his family with memorial and burial costs.
The deaths have renewed concerns about gang violence and public safety in the region, prompting calls from community leaders for stronger preventive measures.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Greenfield Police Department as the investigation continues.
